3 Pears & a pomegranate

The progress on the 3 pears & a pomegranate still life started a few weeks ago.

Despite Hilmi’s dedicated attendance, the poor fruit has paled and softened over the weeks and the sheen of the skin was lost. But this gave a chance to balance focus and detail against shadow and diffusion.

Hilmi’s recommendation on a raw sienna glaze was quite wonderful. I always err on using too much blue to deepen shadows.

Like all paintings – happy with some bits while others need more work!

    • Thanks so much Usha – lovely to have you stop by – I hope you’ve seen the interactive map for the Sisterhood of the Travelling Sketchbook – et me know if there’s an image you want to display. You can send a link by reply if that’s easy.

    • Thanks so much Kate that’s so kind of you to comment – Also I got your SotTS image and it’s all loaded on the map plus I did a short post tonight on your work with links back. I’m getting the handle on the map now and it seems to update easily. Hope it works from your side. :>

      • I inserted the updated map link into both my original post and the Sketchbook page, and the links to the posts and the blogs seems to be working fine! Thank you for the repost of my page, which is getting some lovely publicity 🙂

      • That’s wonderful Kate so glad the links are working. The map itself also registers views which must be via ‘my maps’ so some people might come through via those sites too. 🙂
