On Saturday a small cloud bursts directly over the house and wakes us from a doze in the late afternoon. The rain drops shine like shards of glass in the bright sun but not a breath of wind precedes or follows the spontaneous shower – there is no reprieve to the heat.
The sun sets – as the sun does in her own fair time.
The stars come out – at first a mere pin in the velvet sky and then, like a tumble of diamonds, Orion strides out from his lodgings and into the night.
