Good art is … on a Cuban street

My clever friend Amy (exhibiting as Hola Holga) opened the show of her most recent sojourn in Cuba in Melbourne tonight.

Her work captures the richness of the Cuban street – a natural draw for photographers.

Amy brings to life not just that distinct Havana palette of blues, virdigris and chalky yellow – she describes being unable to separate the people from the place.

Her pictures are enlivened with people in motion and at rest – giving a sensitivity to the tempo of the city.

More about Amy’s work can be read at http://www.holaholga.com/

Amy’s work is currently showing at 1 Spring St, Melbourne (enter off Flinders Lane) until 26 November.

    • She’s a really clever artist with a great eye. Amy has the photos printed professionally but does all the rest of the finishing herself so the images have a real crafted finish. The timber board underneath gives the photographs a beautiful texture.
