Citrus and Jonquils – a Winter tonic

Here is the citrus still life which I started earlier this week. The fruit did survive to be painted although the poor flowers were fairly sad by the end.

I tried to prep the light canvas sheet and rubbed it back too much – whoops. This made the paint bleed and look scrubbed out, so the citrus bowl is a bit heavy handed.

Quite like the stripes running through the picture though which I kept very simple – all the colours seemed to work, always love blue and that slubby green with orange.
